The writing was on the wall for a while, but it’s become official that the OpTic CS:GO roster won’t be able to stick together going forward. They were stuck in limbo for quite a while now due to Immortals Gaming Group’s purchase of their parent company Infinite Esports and Valve’s corresponding conflict of interest rules, which stipulated that they would eventually have to get rid of either the MiBR roster or the Danes. It was clear which way the wind was blowing, and though they’ve held out hope for four months, a disappointing performance at ESL Pro League Season 10 spelled doom for the roster.

OpTic is no more

The team’s final outing at ESL Pro League Season 10 was marked by heavy defeats, failing to win a single map in Group A. First, it was MSL who announced that he’d be stepping down, with an official statement about the entire roster made soon thereafter. The players are now open to individual offers.

Danish shuffle

Meanwhile, the Danish shuffle also ramped up elsewhere in the CS:GO world as cadiaN joined Heroic after a two-week stand-in period and cajunb was confirmed to return to North as valde is expected to depart for the OG project slated to be headed by Aleksib and NBK-. Of course, with Astralis still one of the strongest teams in the game as a whole, Counter-Strike remains a massive presence in Denmark, even though the strength in their considerable depth has been somewhat of a mirage in the past. With two different North American teams in the top five of the world, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to match or supersede that feat.
