The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational is just around the corner, beginning on May 1, 2024. It'll be the first international stage of the annual LoL Esports calendar, as the halfway point between each region's first and second splits.

MSI 2024 features the best teams from every region, battling for a shot at the MSI title, the largest share of the $250K prize pool, and a direct invite to the LoL World Championship in October. The tournament will also be played on patch 14.8, so every team will have had plenty of time to prepare and learn the best strategies, meta champions, and team compositions.

Keep reading for a full rundown of the entire tournament, including the full MSI schedule, all 12 competing teams, the live standings, where to watch, and more!

MSI 2024: Format

The Mid-Seasonal Invitational for League of Legends pro-play has two stages: the Play-In Stage and the Bracket Stage.

The Play-In stage begins with the second seed from LECLCKLPL, and LCS, as well as the top seed from LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS, for eight teams.

The four winning teams from the Play-Ins will join the four major region champions for eight teams in the Bracket Stage. These teams are drawn into four matches to kick off a single best-of-five double-elimination bracket, ending in the Finals on May 19.

Play-In Stage: May 1 - 5

  • Eight teams are divided into two groups
  • Double-elimination bracket, all matches are Bo3
  • The top two teams from each group advance to the Bracket Stage draw
  • The bottom 2 teams from each group are eliminated

Bracket Stage: May 7 - 12, May 14 - 19

  • Eight teams play in another double-elimination bracket
  • All matches, including the all-important final match, are Bo5

A new rule for MSI 2024 is that the winning team earns a direct qualification to 2024 LoL Worlds, guaranteeing a slot for their region. This rule only applies if the winning team reaches the Playoffs of their domestic Summer Split. The next best-performing region will also secure an additional seed at LoL Worlds for their region.
