The Dota 2 Bali Major is just around the corner, as the third Major on the Dota Pro Circuit calendar and the last significant tournament before the coveted The International 12.

The Dota 2 Bali Major is set to begin on June 29 after the conclusion of DreamLeague S20. It will run until July 9 for an action-packed week of high-stakes Dota 2 gameplay, with a $500,000 overall prize pool and plenty of DPC points up for grabs!

From the Bali Major 2023 format to all eighteen competing teams, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming Bali Major - let's dive in!

Bali Major 2023: Format

Group Stage - June 29 - July 3

  • Two groups of nine teams each, A and B.
  • Single round-robin format - all matches are best-of-two.
  • The top four teams from each group advance to the Playoffs Upper Bracket
  • 5th and 6th place from each group advance to the Playoffs Lower Bracket

Here is how the teams are divided for the Group Stage, with nine teams in each.

Group A: beastcoast, Blacklist Rivalry, Execration, Invictus Gaming, Shopify Rebellion, Team Aster, Team Liquid, Team Spirit, and Tundra Esports

Group B: 9Pandas, Azure Ray, BetBoom Team, Bleed Esports, Evil Geniuses, Gaimin Gladiators, nouns, PSG.LGD, and Quest Esports.

Playoffs - July 5 - 9

  • 12 teams altogether.
  • Double-elimination bracket - all matches are best-of-three, except the Grand Final.
  • Grand Final on July 9 is best-of-five.

Bali Major 2023: Prize Money

The prize pool for the Bali Major is $500,000 USD, split amongst the top eight teams, with the lion's share being graciously awarded to the tournament winners. There are 3,500 Dota Pro Circuit points on the line, with everything to play for!

Eighteen teams will participate in this year's Bali Major. Four teams each from Western Europe and China, three from Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia and two from North America and South America.

Eastern Europe

9Pandas took home third place after a tough Berlin Major, becoming fan favorites in Eastern Europe. Their regional rivals BetBoom Team and Team Spirit, have much to prove going into the Bali Major 2023.

Southeast Asia

Dota 2 reigns supreme in Southeast Asia, with three solid contenders representing their region. Blacklist International, or Blacklist Rivalry, are the new kids on the block, with the Bali Major being their first Major - is it their chance to shine?

South America

Evil Geniuses are the team to watch for South America, as they have performed consistently well throughout DPC 2023, placing fourth and fifth in the Berlin and Lima Majors, respectively. Beastcoast are coasting, having come in 14th at the Berlin Major.

China

Team Aster has tons of hype surrounding their newest member, Hassan. His move into the mid-lane is arguably the most impactful roster change Aster has made in the 2023 DPC season. Azure Ray is also new to the pro-Dota scene, and it will be interesting to see how they perform!

Bali Major 2023: Where To Watch

This is the first Major on Bali soil, as IO Esports collaborate with Epulze to deliver the biggest Dota 2 Major of the season! Combining professional Dota 2 gameplay with a luxury getaway, the venue for the Grand Final (July 7-9) is the luxurious Ayana Estate, a 5-star resort at the Champa Garden.

Competitors and fans alike will be wowed by the fantastic beaches and tourist attractions between their intense, high-stake Dota 2 matches! In-person tickets started at $388 for standard entry but have now; unfortunately, all sold out on the Bali Major website due to the venue's limited capacity and more interest than initially expected.
