March 12th, 2020

ESL has just announced the postponement of the upcoming Dota 2 Major due to recently announced travel restrictions and the coronavirus outbreak, throwing the Dota calendar into chaos just days before the event was originally slated to begin.

The third Major of the 2019/20 DPC season will not be going ahead as planned in Los Angeles, ESL confirmed. The company is currently working with Valve to determine a new date and location for this key event of the circuit.

Per Rod 'Slasher' Breslau, the decision to go beyond playing the event without a crowd was directly due to the recently announced travel suspension from Europe to the United States.

It remains to be seen how the teams and the competitive scene will cope with the disruption, which has adversely impacted traditional and esports events alike across the globe.
