PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen: Complete Tournament Details

PGL Copenhagen Major 2024 is on the horizon as the first Major on the Counter-Strike 2 esports calendar, beginning on March 17. Twenty-four of the best CS2 teams will be jetting off to Copenhagen, Denmark, to compete for a slice of the $1.25M USD prize pool on the line.

Only time will tell which team will be crowned champion of the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major.

PGL Copenhagen: Format

The PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen will feature three stages: the Opening Stage, the Elimination Stage, and the Playoffs, as outlined below.

Opening Stage: March 17 - 20

  • Sixteen teams will compete in a Swiss System format
  • Elimination and Advancement matches are Bo3
  • All other matches are Bo1
  • The top eight teams advance to the Elimination Stage; the bottom eight teams are eliminated.

Elimination Stage: March 21 - 24 

  • 16 teams compete in a Swiss System format
  • Elimination and Advancement matches are Bo3
  • All other matches are Bo1
  • The top eight teams advance to the Playoff Stage; the bottom eight teams are eliminated

Playoff Stage: March 28 - 31

  • Eight teams compete in a single elimination bracket
  • All matches are Bo3

PGL Copenhagen: Teams

A grand total of 24 teams will compete in the Copenhagen Major. Sixteen teams have received invites to the Opening Stage after qualifying through five different respective RMR closed qualifiers.

The other eight qualified squads have been seeded based on their placement in the Valve official ranking.

The Royal Arena in the heart of Copenhagen will be the battleground for the Playoff Stage of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, with all games played before a live studio audience. Over the years, this legendary 16,000-capacity venue has seen plenty of epic Counter-Strike action. Still, it has never hosted a CS Major.

As always, the competition will be broadcast live on TwitchYouTube, and KICK on all of PGL's relevant channels. In the early part of the event, there will be A and B streams to accommodate matches happening concurrently.
