Fast forward to 2013, and the first IEM CSGO main event was held at the Spodek Arena, in Katowice, Poland, featuring 16 of the top teams from around the world. The IEM Katowice event featured a generous $250,000 prize pool. Fnatic took home the inaugural IEM event, triumphing over Ninjas in Pyjamas in the Grand Finals.

Here is the full schedule for all the IEM events unfolding in 2023.

• IEM Rio 2023: April 17 - 23 (Won by Team Vitality with Heroic as the runner-up)
• IEM Dallas 2023: May 29 - June 4 (Won by ENCE with MOUZ as the runner-up)
• IEM Cologne 2023: July 25 - August 6 (Won by G2 Esporrs with ENCE as the runner-up)

IEM 2023: Tournament Format

Each IEM tournament may have slightly differing formats. For example, Katowice event features three stages: the Play-In, Group Stage, and the Playoffs. There were 24 teams competing in the Play-In stage.

IEM Sydney 2023: Format

IEM Sydney will consist of two stages: the Group Stage and the Playoffs as sixteen teams will compete in total. The competition will begin on October 16 until October 22 for an action-packed few days.

The six best teams advance on to the playoffs, held before a live studio audience at the Aware Super Theatre.

IEM Cologne 2023: Format

IEM Cologne 2023 will consist of three stages. 16 teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket, starting on July 26 with the Play-In stage. Opening matches are best-of-one, while all matches are best-of-three.

Sixteen teams will then compete in the exciting Group Stage, where all matches are best-of-three. Six teams in total will advance to the Playoffs, the last two days of were held in front of a live aduence at the LAXESS Arena. G2 Esports took home the title and the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool.

All IEM Sydney 2023 matches and future IEM tournaments will be broadcast live in English on the ESL CS:GO Twitch and YouTube channels. There are primary and secondary streams available to accomodate all matches occurring at the same time.
