In the realm of Dota 2, new heroes are a rare sight indeed. The last two heroes to join the roster were Primal Beast in February 2022 and Muerta in March 2023, with roughly one new hero released each year.

Stepping up to the stage is Dota 2’s next hero, The Ringmaster, as he made his grand entrance at The International 12. The audience was abuzz with excitement at what this potential puppetmaster could bring to the game in the future.

While specific details about Dota 2’s new hero, The Ringmaster, are few and far between, here’s everything we know so far, including his release date and potential abilities.

Dota 2 New Hero: The Ringmaster Reveal

On the final day of play at TI12, The Ringmaster was showcased just before the last matches of the competition kicked off, amping up the crowd. Playing into the creepy circus theme just before Halloween, check out his reveal trailer, embedded below.

Fans are eager to gobble up any and all Dota 2 hero reveals, and long-time players feel like The Ringmaster’s trailer is one of the most hype ones Valve have done to date to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Dota 2 New Hero: The Ringmaster Release Date

At this stage in the game, there’s no official exact release date for the new hero. However, at the end of The Ringmaster’s reveal, a brief message on a circus poster popped on the screen, giving the audience a release window for The Ringmaster: “No hero is safe: 2024.”

This timeframe is incredibly broad, and it’s unclear whether he’ll be released in the first or second half of 2024. With 2024 only now less than two months away and no gameplay revealed in his trailer, we can assume The Ringmaster is still being worked on, and will be released on Dota 2 in mid-to-late 2024, around April or May, if we're going by Dota 2’s previous hero releases.

Dota 2 New Hero: The Ringmaster Abilities

While his actual gameplay wasn’t shown in the reveal, Dota 2 fans can guess that The Ringmasters’ abilities will involve trickery, puppets, and some form of deception, as an iron maiden-like trap is shown in the trailer.

Some players even think The Ringmaster will work similarly to Shaco in League of Legends, relying heavily on traps and stealth to make great plays. Either way, we’re excited to see what The Ringmaster tosses our way and what role he’ll play in the Dota 2 meta.
