With its explosive gameplay, stunning visuals and accessible controls, Wild Rift is competing with top mobile gaming powerhouses like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor.

Riot Games are upping the ante by introducing Wild Rift League Asia, WRL-A, in April 2023, set to revolutionize the world of mobile esports. Riot are expanding its reach to assert dominance in the SEA region, as the Wild Rift League Asia (WRL-Asia) will replace the original Wild Rift Esports (WRE).

The upcoming Asia League Wild Rift Tour will bring together the best players and teams in the region for the first-ever cross-regional league mobile esports competition in Asia, organized by Riot themselves.

Get ready to witness the ultimate display of skill as 20 teams from WRL-CN and WRL-APAC go head-to-head in a battle for glory in the first season of WRL-A. The season of WRL-Asia will run from April to July and will see 20 teams from WRL CN and WRL APAC battle it out to be crowned the first-ever WRL-A champion! Here's all the details about WRL-Asia.

Wild Rift League Asia 2023: Format

WRL-A is divided into three stages: the regular season, playoffs, and finals. These will take place across several months, from April until mid-July.

As the first season of Wild Rift esports in Southeast Asia, the prize pool has yet to be announced. However, with most premier esports, it is estimated to be around $50,000 USD!

Regular Season

The regular season of WRL-Asia 2023 will commence on April 8, continuing until June 11. There are two conference groups: China (CN) and Asia Pacific (APAC). Twenty teams compete as games are played in a geographical rule.

Matches will be played as best-of-three, as games are played in a single round-robin format against teams in the same Conference.

The top eight teams from the China Conference and the top four from APAC Conference will qualify for the Playoffs.

Playoffs

The WRL-A Playoffs will take place on June 20 until July 9. Teams will play in a double-elimination bracket within their Conference. In CN, the top four teams start in the upper bracket, while the other four will be in the lower bracket. In APAC, all four teams will play in the upper bracket.

All matches in the playoffs will be played as best-of-seven. The top two teams from each Conference, four teams in total, will qualify for the exciting Finals.

Finals

The Wild Rift Asian League Finals will culminate in an exciting finale set over three days, from July 21 to 23. It will be split into two stages:

Round Robin Stage - July 21

  • All matches will be played best-of-one. The winners automatically advance to the Grand Final. Runners-up qualify for the Semifinal, while the remaining two teams qualify for the Quarterfinal.

Knockout Stage - July 22-23

  • The knockout stage is played as a single elimination king of the hill. The Quarterfinal will be played as Bo3, and the Semifinal is Bo5. The Grand Final on July 23 will be played as a Bo7 to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Wild Rift League Asia 2023: Competing Teams

Twenty teams are competing in Wild Rift League Asia, split across two Conferences: China and APAC. Teams from WRL APAC could advance to WRL APAC Open Qualifier through different regional tournaments and get a chance to progress to Wild Rift League Asia.

This new format for Wild Rift esports means the WRL Challenger tournament will no longer take place, though teams can still compete in the WRT Challenger tournament.
