MSI 2023: Format

The Mid-Season Invitational 2023 differs from previous Mid Season Invitational tournaments, following a new best-of-three format and the introduction of the new play-in/group stage. This stage consists of eight teams split into two, each with a double elimination bracket. Three winning teams will advance to the main bracket stage, where they will join the other five pre-qualified teams in the bracket stage to compete for the win.

Here's a detailed rundown of MSI 2023.

• Play-Ins: May 2-7

Eight teams will be split into two groups of four, with every match being a best-of-three with a double-elimination format. The two group winners and the winner of an LCQ match (last-chance qualification) will proceed to the bracket stage and join the five pre-invited teams.

• Bracket Stage: May 9-14 and May 16-20

Eight teams participate in this round, with three Play-In teams and five teams prequalified from tournaments in major regions. All matches are best-of-five.

• Grand Final: May 21

Two support champions, Milio and Yuumi, are notably disabled for the duration of MSI 2023.

MSI 2023: Venue

MSI 2023 will be hosted at the Copper Box Arena in London, built specifically for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The arena has previously hosted other esports events, like Rocket League and Apex Legends.
