MPL Philippines: A History

MPL PH, short for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines, is a pro-esports league dedicated to the namesake, MLBB. The tournament has become one of Southeast Asia's most competitive Mobile Legends tournaments, along with MPL ID and MPL MY.

MPL Philippines was first introduced in 2018 as part of the growing esports ecosystem in the Philippines, providing a platform for Filipino players to showcase their skills. MPL Philippines has produced three MLBB world champions and consecutive titles with Blacklist International, making them one of the strongest ML regions.

MPL PH's competitive season is split into two: one in January/February and another in August/September. The last season was MPL PH Season 11, where ECHO edged Blacklist International to claim the title. MPL PH also has a development feeder series, MDL PH, where young and new talent are nurtured to eventually join the bigger teams.

MPL PH Season 12: Format

MPL Philippines Season 12 begins with the regular season on September 8 and ends on October 15. All matches will be best-of-three, played in a double round-robin format.

The teams will earn points depending on their individual games won, according to the scoring system below. The top six teams with the most points from the regular season will advance to the playoffs, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.

• Three points for winning 2-0. 
• Two points for winning 2-1. 
• One point for losing 1-2. 
• Zero points for losing 0-2. 

The playoffs will feature a hybrid elimination format. The regular season's 3rd to 6th-seeded teams compete in a single-elimination bracket. 1st and 2nd-seeded teams are automatically placed into Round 2, a double-elimination bracket. All playoff matches will be best-of-five, aside from the Grand Final. The Grand Finals will be best-of-seven for maximum excitement.

MPL PH Season 12 starts on September 8 and runs until October 29, spanning eight weeks. All matches will occur over weekends, from Friday to Sunday, so you don't have to miss a second of the action!
