VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 is just on the horizon, set to begin on June 11. Brace yourselves for the thrill of the second international event of the 2023 Valorant Champions Tour, building upon the epic success of LOCK//IN Brazil at Sao Paulo earlier this year.

Twelve teams will be traveling to the heart of Tokyo to battle it out on the big stage, live before crowds of fans. In an electrifying two-week tournament, teams will fight for coveted spots in the final VCT event of the year, Champions, held in Los Angeles at the end of the year.

The climax of VCT Masters will reach an exciting conclusion on June 26, when the winning team will be crowned. With an astounding $1,000,000 prize pool on the line, the stakes are higher than ever before!

VCT Masters Tokyo 2023: Format

VCT Masters Tokyo will consist of two stages: the Group Stage and the Playoffs.

Group Stage (June 11 - 14)

  • The top four teams in seeding advance directly to the playoffs, while the remaining eight teams compete in the initial double elimination Group Stage, split into two groups of four.
  • All matches are best of three.
  • The top two teams from each grouping advance to the Playoffs.

Playoffs (June 16 - 25)

  • 8 teams compete in the Playoffs, as 4 High-Seeds and 4 Pre-Qualified teams.
  • All matches (excluding the Grand Final and Lower Bracket Final) are best of three
  • Lower Final and Grand Final are best of five.

VCT Masters Tokyo 2023: Teams

Ten of the twelve teams competing in VCT Masters Tokyo were determined by the Valorant Champions Tour international leagues in the Americas, EMEA and the Pacific.

The Americas and Pacific have three teams representing their regions at Masters Tokyo. EMEA is represented by four teams, having earned an extra slot from Fnatic's victory at LOCK//IN Brazil. The top three EMEA teams will qualify for VCT Champions later this year, while the worst-placed EMEA team will get another chance in the Last Chance Qualifier.

There are also two team representatives from China, which were decided by the FGC Valorant Invitational 2023: Act 1. These teams include EDward Gaming and Attacking Soul Esports, the latter making their first international debut.

Top Seeded Teams

These top four seeded teams earned their slot by winning the VCT league in their respective region. As mentioned, EMEA earned an additional slot for their region.

Team Liquid were EMEA's victors, with Fnatic coming in second as the runners-up.

VCT Masters Tokyo: Venues

Riot Games have revealed that Tipstar Dome Chiba will be hosting the entirety of the Group Stage and the majority of the playoffs until there are only three remaining teams.

The Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final will be held at Makuhari Messe, Japan's largest convention centre. Tensions are high, and the atmosphere will be electric - tickets are still on sale for fans wishing to attend the Masters event. Tickets are on sale for fans outside of Japan here.
